Poetry is nearer to vital truth than history.
Plato (via lilysofthefield)
erm—-Actually this is a 19th century “remix/mashup” of 2 different quotes by Plato and Aristotle by Ralph Waldo Emerson in Nature. Interesting Quote…but is it Poetry or History?
Plato’s quote is “Action comes less near to vital truth than description”
Aristotle’s is “Poetry is something more philosophical and excellent than history”
